Teen Classes

Teen classes are open to all young artists, regardless of prior experience or training.

The Fall Semester runs the week of September 1, 2026 through November 21, 2026. Sharing week is November 17 – 21, 2026.

Mini Play 2 (Grades 5-8)

If you have taken Mini Play and are ready for more challenges as a young actor, and want to deepen your knowledge of drama through collaborative storytelling, this is the perfect way to continue those theatrical studies. Continue your knowledge of building characters as you study more advanced blocking, explore spacial awareness, character objectives and obstacles, and continue working on your performance techniques. Although this class is meant for ensemble creations, students will also have a brief introduction to monologues. Mini-Play 2 students will also get to explore some of the technical and design components of the theatre such as props, costumes, and sets. The class culminates with a Sharing Day for family and friends on the last day of class.

Broadway Meets Pop Voice Class (Grades 6-8)

Did you know that some Broadway shows are inspired by Pop music? Shows like & Juliet, Moulin Rouge, Once Upon A One More Time, Beautiful, and many others! Come study songs from these popular musicals! You will learn how to successfully execute diaphragmatic breathing, have a strong working knowledge of placement and resonance, as well as study jaw, vowel, consonant, and soft palate work. You will also learn basic terminology and theory, work on your ear training and sight singing skills, as well as creating characters and acting the song. The class culminates with a Sharing Day for family and friends on the last day of class.

Musical Theatre 101 for Teens (Grades  7-12)

Perfect for the teen who has always been interested in giving musical theatre a try, or for current musical theatre students who want to keep studying and strengthen their craft. Students will learn song and dance numbers from 3 musicals guided by one of our gifted teaching artists. Students will also learn the basics of stage directions, dance and music terms, choreography, and ensemble work. They will also work with scripts and learn how to build a character. 

Musical Theatre 101’s songs, scenes, and study materials refresh each semester. We encourage you to take it more than one semester to reinforce the 21st Century Skills gained in this class.

Musical Theatre 201 for Teens (Grades  7-12)

Did you take MT101, want to learn more and work on more challenging material? Then MT201 is for you! This class goes beyond the basics, as you put your foundational knowledge to the test. You will deepen your understanding of “scene into song”, be challenged through more technical exploration through dance combinations, and have an introduction to character motivations and monologues. You will also continue to build confidence as both a solo performer, and as a collaborative ensemble member. The class culminates with a Sharing Day for family and friends on the last day of class. 
 
*Prerequisite: MT101 or class/performance equivalent.

Private Voice (Grades 4-12)

Students will study the technical aspects of voice, geared toward the musical theatre genre, developing healthy skills they can use on and off the stage. Special attention and focus on breath support, resonance, placement, jaw and vowel work, and alignment, to expand and strengthen the vocal range. Students will also work on expression, artistry, and text exploration, working toward a sharing day performance for parents at the end of the semester. This course is guided by an age-appropriate curriculum taught by one of our qualified and gifted teaching artists. 
 
At this time, we no longer offer private classes directly through our program. Private Acting (Grades 4-12)

Whether you want to strengthen your knowledge of how to build a character, work on audition material, or gain more experience analyzing materials and sharpening your technique, this class is for you. Our experienced faculty will create a plan for you to meet all of your goals in a private, safe space. Get ready to release your creativity and get invaluable feedback! This course is guided by an age-appropriate curriculum taught by one of our qualified and gifted teaching artists.
