As Halloween approaches, Adventure invites playwright José Casas to discuss how he re-envisioned the classic Gothic tale of Frankenstein in his new play, Gurl Frankenstein! In Frankie: The Untold Story of A Gurl Frankenstein, super smart Francesca Frankenstein struggles with being accepted. She feels like a freak because she has no real friends and is ignored at school by all the kids. She feels ugly . . . like a monster. Then, one day, she decides to build a monster/creature for the science fair, but when her experiment backfires and creature causes fear and panic, her creation convinces her that she may be more than what she thinks.
José will also discuss how he is working with a cohort of diverse writers on a mission to re-envision super hero myths through the BIPOC Super Hero project.
