Adult classes are open to all adults regardless of experience.
The art of tap dancing originated in the US during the 19th Century through a combination of African and Irish dance forms. Students will learn this percussive style of dance through foot isolation warm ups, rhythm exercises, core and center work, as well as have a good working understanding of tap terminology. Students will work on combinations to some of the most beloved tap shows from the Golden Age, as well as contemporary musicals.
This class will help the student achieve strengthening of alignment, center core work, endurance, and range of motion. The class will always begin with a warm ups consisting of stretch and balance work. Every class will work towards learning combinations from some of Broadway’s greatest choreographers like Jerome Robbins, Michael Bennett, and Susan Stroman.

The class will begin with the study of audition techniques, including how to select a great song that fits your vocal range and “type”, and how to choose the best 32-bar cut. This class also provides experience and training to develop proficiency in a range of musical theatre styles based on scene work. Students will study how to interpret lyrics, craft smooth transitions from dialogue to song, and create characters.
