College Prep Program

Appropriate for anyone applying for a performing arts college program

One of the most rewarding, yet challenging, part of a student’s journey in musical theatre is the college audition process. At ATMTC we have a team of award-winning professional performing artists and educators ready to help students through the process. As this is considered a tutoring program, it is by appointment only. 

FALL SEMESTER: $2500

  • Private Lessons in Acting the Song, Monologues, and Dance. These disciplines will have a total of 6 coachings each, for a total of 18 sessions. 
  • Each session is scheduled by the teacher and student in agreed upon available times. All coachings will take place at our Wintergreen Plaza location. 
  • Conference with the Academy Director for overview/focus on the college process, building lists, spreadsheets, and timelines as you get ready for Pre-screen and in-person auditions. 
  • A professional, customized, edited video of the Pre-screen audition performance.
SPRING SEMESTER: (Optional) $600
  • Six additional “brush up” coachings in preparation for the in-person auditions at your selected schools.

Come let our experienced team help you polish that song and monologue. We have ½ hour and 1-hour slots available for private coaching to help you land the college of your choice! 

FACULTY

ATMTC hires the most educated and talented musical theater education professionals in the D.C. and New York regions. Among our staff for the current program year, we are proud to employ qualified individuals who are:

Evan Casey has worked as an actor, director, and teacher for over two decades. In addition to his extensive stage work — which has allowed him to perform in DC, New York, and numerous regional theaters across the country — his most recent television work includes roles on HBO’s We Own This City, and FX’s Impeachment: American Crime Story. His voice can be heard on numerous audio book recordings for Graphic Audio, and on the recent hit podcasts Circle Round and Who, When, Wow!. He has taught acting for Howard Community College, National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, Theatre Lab, Signature Theatre, and Adventure Theatre-MTC, among others. His most recent directing credits include multiple promotional short films for the Nevada Department of Education, and the online production of the world-premiere play Holler with The Clear Branch Collective.

Angela Ingram, originally from Pittsburgh, PA, is a life-long dancer and for the past 20 years has taught dance educator is a master instructor.  Starting ballet at the age of 9 where she was trained in the Cecchetti Style of Ballet, Jazz,Tap, and Hawaiian.  Angela built her dance experience through training in New York City which included the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater , Fred Benjamin, Frank Hatchet, Luigi, Bob Fosse Styles of Jazz, and Martha Graham,  Angela then became interested in Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian dance, upon seeing how folkloric dance influence contemporary dance styles, such as jazz.  She traveled to Havana, Cuba and Bahia, Brazil several times studying Folkloric dance.

 
She applies traditional and folkloric techniques, and her experiences to her instruction of  Ballet, Modern , Fosse and Luigi-styles of Jazz.  Angela encourages her dancers to understand the cultural context of their dance style to reach a higher quality of movement and to connect with the experiences that originated the dance technique they are bringing to life.

Michael Replogle, SAG/AFTRA

Mr. Replogle’s film and television credits include NBC, ABC, Tri-star Pictures, Pipeline, and A. Shane Productions. Stage credits include regional theatres such as The Kennedy Center, Mill Mountain, The MacHaydn, Signature, Roundhouse, American Century, Keegan Theatre, The Source, Studio and two national tours. He has also narrated for over 35 recorded books and plays.

Mr. Replogle has served as Co-Artistic and/or Program Director for theatres and programs in the Washington, D.C. area, most notably for Roundhouse Summer Teen Institute and Adventure Theatre.

He is Founding Artistic Director for the City of Fairfax Theatre Company, which opened its first production in the summer of 2009. He has directed over 80 professional and community theatre productions in his career, won the area’s first WATCH Award in direction for Richard III, and directed the 2012 BroadwayWorldDC.com best musical, Legally Blonde. Mr. Replogle studied at HB Studio and Colliers in New York City, the University of Nevada/Reno, and the University of Virginia.

He is the program originator and director of the Fairfax Academy’s Professional Musical Theatre & Actors Studio, the first of it’s kind in the region, where he was nominated for several years before winning honors for Teacher of the Year in 2013-2014. In the last twenty years his students have attended the top performance colleges and universities across America, Great Britain and Europe. Many have gone on to Broadway, national tours, television and major film, others have become writers, recording artists, and producers. He retired from the Academy in Spring of 2020. He continues to work in the field he loves.

Lisa Carrier Baker (Academy Director) Director of Education at the Musical Theatre Center (now Adventure Theatre MTC) from 2009-2011, and Director of the Pre-Professional Program from 2003-2013. Managing Director/Music Supervisor at Montgomery College Summer Dinner Theatre from 2014-2023. Lisa was a stage director of SDT productions from 2000-2004 and has directed 10 main stage productions for Montgomery College. She is a former adjunct professor of voice at American University and Montgomery College. Her students have been heard on the Broadway stages of Wicked, Bring It On, Dear Evan Hansen, and A Man of No Importance, among others. They can currently be seen in national tours, regional theatres, and are local Helen Hayes Award winners and nominees.

Performance (selected): National Tours: La Boheme (Musetta), L’Elisir D’Amore (Adina), The Merry Wives of Windsor (Anne), and L’Italiana in Algeri (Elvira). Ohio Light Opera: Margot in The Desert Song, Gretel in Christopher Columbus (American Premiere). In concert, Lisa has been a featured performer with many symphonies in the US and Canada, including four seasons with the Indianapolis Symphony’s “Yuletide Celebration” under the baton of Jack Everly. She again joined Maestro Everly when she made her Baltimore Symphony debut in their staged concert of “Hairspray” alongside John Waters, George Wendt, and Beth Leavel. Favorite musical theatre roles: Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma: Young Sally in Follies, Zelda Zanders in Singin’ In The Rain with Tony Award nominee Lara Teeter, and Mona in Dames at Sea directed by original Broadway cast member, Tamara Long. DC: Kennedy Center: created the role of The Narrator in the world premiere (cast recording) and national tours of The Nightingale, Reyalto in The Emperor’s New Clothes, and several readings of new works with Page To Stage Festivals. American Century Theatre: Nina in Dear World, Washington Savoyards: The Mikado (Yum Yum), The Merry Widow (Valencienne) Toby’s Dinner Theatre: The Sound of Music (Mother Abbess), Trina in the critically acclaimed Falsettos at Ganymede Arts, and Jacqueline in La Cage Au Folles at ArtsCentric.

Education: BM in Musical Theatre, Master of Education. Post graduate: 3 seasons as an Artist in Residence with the Fletcher Opera Institute at North Carolina School of the Arts (formerly National Opera Company).
