The Capajomi family is forced to emigrate to the United States. Andres, still reeling from the separation from close relatives and a new language, has to start classes in his new country. His feelings, fears, and observations will allow readers the opportunity to see many familiar things in a new light.
Claudia Yelin es licenciada en Psicología (Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires) y Master en Asistencia Social (Catholic University of America). Cinturón Negro en el arte marcial Aikido.
Argentina, emigró en 1983, con su marido y sus dos hijas pequeñas, a los Estados Unidos. Radicada en Washington D.C., estableció allí su práctica profesional en el seno de la comunidad internacional, donde se dedica a la atención psicológica de niños y adultos. Su entrenamiento en el arte marcial Aikido le permitió integrar esta disciplina a la realización de talleres de fortalecimiento personal para la mujer. Es autora de tres libros : Emigrar
Entre mujeres, De aquí para allá, y Detrás del silencio. Es autora de numerosas ponencias y artículos sobre la especialidad y de una serie de cuentos infantiles sobre el tema del exilio, de próxima publicación.
Claudia Yelin was brought up in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She graduated and pursued post-graduate training in clinical psychology at the University of Buenos Aires. In the early 1980s she relocated to the Washington D.C. area, where she completed a Masters Degree in Social Work at Catholic University.
In the last decade, Ms. Yelin has focused her research on the immigration process and its effect on individuals and families. As a result, she has published Emigrar. En busca de un espacio de amparo, an autobiographical book where she recounts her personal and professional experiences as an immigrant. Her first novel, Entre mujeres, was published in September of 2009. She is currently writing a series of children books that will serve as tools for exploring immigration experiences for children and families alike.
