Grandma’s Secret to Armenian Katas follows a young girl Areni as she helps her grandma bake katas for Easter. Areni is very excited and impatient to find out how grandma makes her katas and to learn the secret that makes her katas the best. Soce Hedeshian is a registered pharmacist and works at Southeast MissouriHospital. Recently, she received her Pharmacy Board Vaccination Certificate and she will be able to help the healthcare workforce. Soce loves color and art, and she spends her spare time working on different projects, mainly children’s books. So far, she has published three Armenian children’s books, and the fourth book will be available shortly! She likes to keep her stories simple and honest. She is mother of two daughters, and has been married to her husband for 17 years.
Dr. Sofya Bagdasaryan received her Bachelor of Arts degree in in Psychology from University of California San Diego, and her graduate degrees (Master of Social Work and Doctorate) from the University of California Los Angeles. For the last 15 years, she has served as a professor of social work at California State University Los Angeles where she teaches courses on policy analysis, community practice and research methods. She is also the principal investigator for California State University Los Angeles’ Social Work Education Center, and serves as an evaluation consultant for non-profit agencies. Dr. Bagdasaryan moved to Simi Valley in 2009 with her family, and her two daughters attend Simi Valley schools. She was elected to the Simi Valley Unified School District’s Board of Education in Fall 2020.
